The main living area is directly ahead of the front entrance. This open area has a 24-foot high ceiling with dual barrels intersecting in a groin vault directly in the center of the living room. From this center point, a motorized chandelier lift can lower the chandelier to floor level for installation, cleaning or repair without ever needing to get a ladder. The back window wall is an integrated designed installation that takes full advantage of the
tremendous panoramic views. Whether you are interested in the city, the landscaping or the sky, you can see it all from here. The window surrounds are trimmed in wood and detailed with carved onlays and intricate trim pieces. The west wall displays the most magnificent marble carvings. On each side of fireplace, high on the wall, are circular white marble trefoil carvings with intricate arched trim. Under each trefoil is a set of German antique glass front doors covering built in cabinets with green granite counter-tops. In the center, the massive Rumford style (45 by 65 inch) hand carved fireplace reaches from the floor up 20 feet high providing the room with a most impressive centerpiece.
Opposite the fireplace is the wet bar. This area is normally closed off to the
living room by the large 8-foot high bi-folding doors designed to co-ordinate with the other trim in the house. Above the doors are more trim elements to insure that even when closed off the bar area is integrated. When the doors are opened and folded back the complete wet bar becomes functional. The stainless sink and kitchen pass through make clean up easy and the wine bottle racks, drawers and under counter cabinets provide plenty of storage for all party needs.
Looking back to the front door you can see the intricate detail in the catwalk railings and how it relates to the spiral staircase railings. All this is tied together in a seemless fashion allowing the ironwork to stand out like a work of art.
